GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: - Experience utilizing a variety of office automation programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; - Experience maintaining alphabetical, numerical, and chronological office files and records; - Experience maintaining database information; or - Experience scanning and filing documents for future reference This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: - Experience interpreting and applying regulations, policies and procedures; - Experience retrieving, updating and storing electronic and non-electronic data files; - Experience composing routine, technical and non-technical correspondence; and - Experience formatting documents and reports This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in any major field of study which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: - Experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data; - Experience performing clerical support duties such as preparing correspondence, maintaining and updating database records, and verifying accuracy of information and figures for reports; - Experience retrieving, updating and storing electronic data; and - Experience composing routine, technical and non-technical correspondence.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in any major field of study which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
