About this role

No assumptions will be made about your experience. To qualify for the GS-04: General Experience: Applicants must have one year of general experience. OR Education: Applicants must have successfully completed two (2) years of study above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

OR Combination of Specialized Experience: Applicants must have a combination of general experience as described in A and post-high school education as described in B that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (Note: You must submit transcripts). To qualify for the GS-05: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

Examples of specialized experience include: answering inquiries, greeting visitors, and routing physical or digital mail; entering personnel, customer, or transaction data into tracking logs or databases; filing records and reviewing basic business correspondence for formatting accuracy; processing point-of-sale customer transactions, collecting fees, and balancing a daily cash drawer. OR Education: Successful completion of at least a full four-year course of study above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

OR Combination of Specialized Experience: Applicants must have a combination of general experience as described in A and post-high school education as described in B that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. To qualify for the GS-06: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

Examples of specialized experience include: utilizing automated corporate or government systems to initiate, track, and monitor personnel, payroll, or business transactions; coordinating vehicle fleet logistics, including scheduling dispatches, tracking vehicle maintenance, and compiling monthly reporting data; serving as a collections officer or financial clerk responsible for receiving monies, logging deposits, and reconciling multi-account records; Independently auditing database files or filing systems to locate and correct missing records or transaction errors.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary. There is occasional carrying of light objects such as files, books, and paperwork. There are no special physical requirements required. Work Environment: The work is performed in an office setting. The work environment involves everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or commercial vehicles.

The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned. Occasional travel is required. The incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
