About this role
Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree (or equivalent), be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or the District of Columbia, and have at least 2 years of post-J.D. experience. Applicants must be active members in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction). Ideal qualifications include federal judicial clerkship experience, at least 3 to 5 years of experiencing litigating criminal cases in federal court (preferably as an AUSA), with experience handling both trials and appeals.
Applicant must have appellate or other significant legal writing experience and oral advocacy experience, preferably before a federal court of appeals. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Past or present Department of Justice experience preferred. The ideal applicant will be energetic, highly organized, and able to take direction well, as well as have demonstrated the ability to work with minimal guidance in a demanding environment.
The applicant must be capable of efficiently drafting high-quality pleadings and briefs under time constraints. The applicant must demonstrate a quick analytical ability and an aptitude for accurately articulating the critical issues in a case. Superior oral argument and writing skills are required, as are strong research and interpersonal skills and good judgment. The ideal applicant should have excellent communication and time-management skills and be able to respond quickly to shifting priorities.
