Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting; OR B. Combination of education and experience -- at least four (4) years of experience in Performance auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.

The applicant's background must include ONE of the following: 1. A certificate as Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; OR 2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement.

SK-11: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-09 level. Specialized experience includes: 1) planning and conducting audits, evaluations, examinations, or other fact-finding studies; AND 2) gathering and analyzing data and determining validity and reliability; AND 3) participating in interviews to acquire information used in an audit or evaluation; AND 4) drafting audit or evaluation report findings on the work performed using applicable standards, procedures, and technology.

OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M if related; OR Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education, which includes education exceeding two (2) years of graduate study and the specialized experience described above that meets the total experience requirements.

For example, six (6) months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 and over 2 years of successfully completed graduate level education.
