Automation Business Analyst
About this role
Innovaccer is seeking an Automation Business Analyst to support the identification, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization of automated revenue cycle workflows within the Caduceus AI Digital Intelligence (CADI) program. The Automation Business Analyst serves as the primary link between Caduceus operational subject matter experts and the technical teams responsible for developing automation and AI-enabled solutions.
The role translates operational workflows and business requirements into clear, testable specifications, supports developers throughout the build process, and leads business validation to ensure solutions accurately perform the intended workflow and achieve defined operational outcomes. A Day in the Life Opportunity identification and qualification: Support intake and evaluation of automation opportunities by working with operational leaders and subject matter experts to understand workflows, volumes, manual effort, business impact, process variability, expected outcomes, and automation feasibility.
Process discovery and documentation: Conduct process-shadowing sessions with operational subject matter experts to understand and document current-state workflows, including process steps, decision points, workflow variations, dependencies, and exception scenarios. Develop process maps, screenshots, workflow recordings, and other materials needed to establish a complete understanding of the current process. Requirements definition: Translate documented workflows and operational objectives into development-ready functional requirements defining business logic, required inputs, expected outcomes, exception and escalation handling, and acceptance criteria.
Resolve requirements gaps with operational subject matter experts and validate requirements before development begins. Development support: Collaborate with Automation Developers/Engineers to review proposed automation designs for alignment with documented requirements. Serve as the first-level resource for engineering questions and coordinate with operational SMEs when additional workflow expertise or decisions are required.
Testing and UAT: Develop UAT test plans, scenarios, test cases, expected results, and acceptance criteria. Assemble representative test populations covering normal workflows, exceptions, and edge cases. Coordinate and/or execute testing, validate results, document defects and variances, maintain an issue tracker, and confirm successful remediation and retesting. Scope and issue management: Identify requirements gaps, scope changes, dependencies, risks, and blockers throughout development and ensure they are documented, evaluated, assigned, and escalated as appropriate.
Deployment and operational readiness: Support preparation of development, test, and production environments. Confirm required workflow documentation, testing, approvals, operating procedures, and support processes are complete prior to deployment. Support production implementation and transition to Operations. Production monitoring and support: Monitor deployed automations against defined accuracy, exception, and performance measures.
Investigate operational issues, provide functional support as needed, coordinate resolution with technical teams, and identify opportunities for workflow or automation optimization. Project governance and documentation: Maintain current functional, testing, and validation documentation. Participate in project reviews and provide updates on requirements, testing, issues, risks, dependencies, and operational readiness. What You Need Professional Experience Strong understanding of medical professional services revenue cycle workflows; physician revenue cycle experience preferred.
Experience with athenaCollector claims workflows, Quickview, and eligibility verification processes. Experience in a Business Analyst, Process Analyst, Automation Analyst, Revenue Cycle Analyst, or similar role, with demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational workflows and translate them into process documentation, functional requirements, test cases, UAT plans, and acceptance criteria. Experience with software testing, QA, defect management, and issue tracking.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively across operational and technical teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
