Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENT: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: SK-15: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level. Specialized experience includes: Applying IT principles and practices to conduct cybersecurity and resiliency audits of organizations and systems; AND Developing recommendations and/or reports of findings while interacting with executive management, co-workers, and members of the securities industry to resolve issues.; AND Leading a team that is responsible for deploying, supporting, or auditing technology solutions employed in the securities market.

See the How You Will Be Evaluated section below for more information: Competency 1: Information Gathering: Ability to gather and process large amounts of information and make connections to understand possible deficiencies. Competency 2: Technology Expertise: Knowledge of the principles and methods of specialized technologies, tools, and delivery systems, including security, risk management, governance, functionality, and user interface in area of expertise (e.g., programming languages, server, web, applications, network).

Competency 3:Teamwork and Collaboration: Interacts with internal and external others in a manner that advances examinations and SEC goals and objectives. Competency 4: Program Management: Ability to develop and execute programs to deliver results that efficiently and effectively meet SEC's mission, strategic plan and goals, with little or no guidance.
