About this role
In order to qualify for the Chief of Staff, GS-601 position you must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained). In addition to the education requirements, to qualify at the GS-14 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: (1) conducting comprehensive research, review, and analyses on a wide variety of research-related management programs and preparing complex staff papers that address complex, multi-functional issues; (2) developing expert-level findings and cogent, substantive recommendations used as the basis for key executive-level management decisions; (3) preparing high-level briefing materials, reports, congressional responses, and policy documents for executive officials; (4) Serving as a liaison by consulting with appropriate staff to develop reports on scientific initiatives and advances for executive leadership, Congress, and other external entities.
