About this role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET.

OPM General Schedule Qualification Standards GS-0800 Series - https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#0800 Specialized Experience: GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with the design of civil engineering projects, reviewing engineering reports for compliance with applicable requirements, and supporting engineering analyses and project documentation.

GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes working on civil engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers, collecting and analyzing field data, and assisting with the preparation of technical reports, plans, specifications, and other project documentation. GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing field geotechnical investigations, preparing geotechnical reports, assisting with Dam Safety inspections, preparing annual instrumentation reports, and supporting the Dam Safety Program under the guidance of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and Dam Safety Program Manager.

GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes independently planning and performing field geotechnical investigations, developing and executing geotechnical investigation programs, preparing geotechnical reports, conducting periodic assessments and inspections in support of the Dam Safety Program, and providing technical recommendations while relying on senior technical leads primarily for quality assurance and technical review.
