Communications and Correspondence Specialist

About this role

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that includes all of the following: Experience that demonstrates expert knowledge and skill in managing executive-level communications and correspondence within a federal agency or comparable organization.

This experience includes drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and coordinating written materials (such as memoranda, reports, briefings, presentations, and congressional responses) for senior leadership; developing and implementing communication strategies and standard operating procedures; ensuring clarity, accuracy, consistency, proper formatting and adherence to agency policies and standards through quality assurance reviews; advising senior officials on messaging approaches and communication strategies; and coordinating information and input from multiple offices and stakeholders to produce high-quality communication products; and routing, tracking, and monitoring executive correspondence through established correspondence management processes.

Experience must also include translating complex technical and policy information into accessible language for diverse; audiences and overseeing processes for routing, reviewing, and finalizing executive communications. Note: Experience must demonstrate the ability to independently perform the full range of duties described above at a level of difficulty comparable to the GG-14 grade level in the Federal service. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated experience in managing executive-level correspondence and communications, including reviewing, analyzing, routing, and tracking correspondence; drafting responses for senior leadership; and maintaining tracking systems.

Demonstrated experience advising senior leadership on communication strategies; translating technical and policy information for broader audiences; developing agency-wide communications, announcements, and editorial calendars. Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and editing executive-level written materials (e.g., memoranda, reports, briefings, presentations); applying templates and formatting standards; and performing quality assurance reviews for senior leadership communications.

Demonstrated experience coordinating information and inputs from multiple offices; engaging with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, reconcile perspectives, and support communication activities.
