About this role
Director of Cost Management Location: Remote (East Coast US or UK Preferred) Start: As soon as possible Contract: Full Time Travel: Regular travel required About Rubix At Rubix, we design and deliver end-to-end AI data center infrastructure — from site origination and development through to long-term operations. What Impact You Will Have As Director of Cost Management for, you will bring cost clarity and commercial discipline to Rubix’s regional data center portfolio. You’ll build the benchmarks, controls, and reporting that help us make smart investment decisions and deliver complex projects with confidence. What You’ll Do Own cost visibility Own cost planning, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for data center developments.
Establish robust cost controls across the project lifecycle, from early feasibility through final account. Develop regional cost benchmarks and lessons learned to improve future investment and delivery decisions. Shape commercial decisions Partner with delivery, design, construction, finance, procurement, and leadership teams on cost strategy. Recommend procurement routes, tender strategy, change control, contract risk, value engineering, speed to market, and commercial trade-offs.
Produce clear cost reports, cash flow forecasts, expenditure profiles, variance analysis, and executive-level updates. Develop cost metrics across multiple projects to aid forward cost budgeting and cost control strategy. Identify and incorporate mechanisms to improve project capex expenditure and improve cost efficiency to target improvements in cost/MW deployment, in consideration to Operational impacts Build the function Create repeatable cost management processes, templates, reporting cadence, and governance standards.
Manage external quantity surveyors, cost consultants, contractors, and commercial advisors. Support team growth by identifying capability needs and developing best practices. What You’ll Need 10+ years of cost management, quantity surveying, commercial management, or project controls experience. Experience supporting large-scale construction, data center, mission-critical, industrial, or infrastructure projects globally Strong understanding of pre-contract and post-contract cost management, tendering, change control, and final accounts.
