This is a full time temporary position expected to last through February 2027. Thorlabs Measurement Systems manufactures and assembles precision, multiprobe video measurement systems, their subassemblies, and associated metrology products. This position is primarily responsible for compiling and entering engineering-related documentation into the Thorlabs Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Additionally, some purchasing and planning activities are required for this role. While this position is based in Sparta, NJ, up to 10% travel may be required to other Thorlabs sites. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Responsible for engineering and production data entry, document revision, and control in the Thorlabs ERP system. Generates and implements change orders in the ERP system.
Conducts high-level documentation reviews and communicates errors with engineering. Manages change order action items, ensuring full execution by appropriate personnel. Notifies internal and external parties of change impacts when necessary. Maintains local engineering documentation directory, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with ERP data. Places purchase orders for assigned items, expediting deliveries if necessary.
Plans, schedules, starts and ends production orders for assigned items. Monitors MRP for assigned items to ensure inventory minimums are maintained. Interacts with external vendors to communicate expectations and deadlines. Helps resolve outstanding issues related to purchasing of production and R&D items Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and support department workflows. Generates special and periodic reports as required or directed by Management Assist with general administrative tasks and provide team support as needed.
In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Physical Activities: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. Requirements Experience: year of previous experience working in a ERP environment is preferred. Education: Associates degree or equivalent work experience Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to interpret follow, edit, and provide feedback on written work instructions. Excellent attention to detail and organization skills. Strong written, verbal communication skills and customer service skills. Ability to work well in a team environment and comply with high quality standards. Strong problem-solving skills to work through various tasks and situations Ability to function autonomously with minimal supervision.
