Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and electrical schematics. Proficiency in laying out work, operating various machines, and using test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters.

A working knowledge of shipboard electrical installation techniques and processes. Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools (e.g., drill presses, hydraulic punches, grinders). A solid mathematical background and the ability to apply electrical trade theory to perform both routine and complex work. Ability to utilize systems such as power and lighting, alarm systems, and motor controllers. Ability to understand electrical safety practices and the ability to follow all prescribed safety rules, especially concerning energy isolation (lockout/tagout).

Ability to apply electrical theory to troubleshoot faulty circuits and identify problem areas.
