About this role

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university Doctorate degree preferred AND three years of applicable experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach from Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association is preferred. The incumbent must meet credentialing requirements IAW OPNAVINST/MCO 6400.2, ¿Scope, Limitations, Certification, Utilization, and Physician Oversight of Certified Athletic Trainers.¿ which requires the incumbent to possess and maintain certification as an athletic trainer from the National Athletic Trainer's Association's Board of Certification Demonstrate knowledge of medical-based comprehensive preventative services of care in six domains of clinical practice: prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, reconditioning, administration, and professional responsibility.

Knowledge of physical therapeutic concepts and methodologies to provide secondary and tertiary intervention protocols according to the condition of the client with or at risk for physical disabilities neuromuscular and psychosocial dysfunction. Working knowledge of Marine Corps directives and policies related to physical performance operational readiness. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and kinesiology.

Knowledge and ability to conduct immediate clinical evaluations of injuries and illnesses sustained in athletics and the ability to provide first aid and emergency care. Knowledge of athletic trainer competencies such as prevention and the referral processes associated with athletic injuries or illnesses; first aid and emergency care; rehabilitation and reconditioning; counseling and guidance for sports participants. Knowledge and skill to assess and gather medical information and health history.

Knowledge of the procedures required for situations that require physician guidance or additional medical interventions. Sufficient knowledge and ability to build interpersonal relationships and social sensitivity such that the incumbent can relate to the military population in a diverse environment. This position has been designated as a position of trust. The incumbent must be eligible for an Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI/ Tier 3) background investigation.
