About this role

At the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes translating written materials from Spanish to English, providing consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish in both directions; using office management applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, or Outlook or equivalent systems to prepare budgets, track expenditures, and manage calendars; working with diverse groups of individuals in professional settings, including stakeholders from various organizational levels or cultural backgrounds; OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in one of the following fields international relations, Latin American Studies, Spanish, history, political science, public administration, government; OR A Combination of education and experience as list above.

This position contains a selective placement factor (SPF) that is part of the minimum requirement of the position. If you do not meet the SPF, you are ineligible for further consideration.

The SPF for this position is proficient written and oral fluency in the Spanish and English languages. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

This position requires 40 words per minute typing ability. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
