ABOUT THE ROLE We're a small, fast-moving healthtech startup building an AI-native operating system that empowers nurse practitioners to launch and run independent clinical practices. Our platform handles the full operational complexity of running a practice — so clinicians can focus entirely on patient care. We're looking for a Founding Product Engineer to own and shape the clinician-facing product experience end-to-end.

You'll work side-by-side with founders, a product designer, and clinicians to transform complex healthcare workflows into polished, reliable software that directly improves care delivery. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at a very early stage — you'll help define how we build, not just what we build. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own major clinician-facing workflows from whiteboard to production — including implementation, testing, rollout, and iteration.

- Collaborate with designers, founders, and clinicians to define product behavior; don't wait for finished specs. - Drive frontend architecture and technical direction across provider and patient applications. - Influence APIs, data models, and overall system behavior while primarily owning the frontend. - Iterate rapidly from rough concepts to production-quality experiences alongside a product designer. - Debug complex production issues spanning browsers, APIs, third-party integrations, and infrastructure.

- Contribute to engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, technical discussions, and pragmatic decision-making. - Leverage AI development tools as part of your workflow while maintaining full ownership of system design and production quality. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required - Demonstrated experience leading significant technical initiatives or owning major product areas end-to-end. - Strong hands-on experience with React and Next.js (TypeScript experience assumed).

- Proven track record of owning user-facing features from concept through production. - Comfort collaborating across the frontend/backend boundary — working with APIs and debugging backend behavior. - Experience working directly with designers, customers, or domain experts to shape product direction. - Strong product intuition, engineering judgment, and debugging skills. - Experience delivering in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment.

- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining responsibility for architecture and quality. - Ability to commute to our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days per week. Nice to Have - Experience in healthcare software, FHIR, or other regulated software domains. - Prior experience as an early or founding engineer at a startup. - Experience building high-touch, workflow-critical products where usability matters as much as correctness.

- Experience evolving or maintaining a design system. Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 per year - Early equity commensurate with a founding engineer role - Opportunity to shape engineering culture and product direction from day one LOCATION This is a hybrid role based in New York City, NY. You'll be expected in our Midtown Manhattan office at least 3 days per week.
