Head of Migrations
About this role
Head of Migrations Location: Our offices are in Central London, along with several of our customers. Travel to our customer sites is required, the frequency of which will vary from customer-to-customer. You need to be able to travel onsite to London up to 3 days per week, although onsite requirements will vary week-to-week and customer-to-customer from 0 to 3 days. Salary : Competitive (DOE) Defence/SC Clearance Requirements: SC clearance is required for our customer facing teams.
You do not need active SC clearance as we will undertake checks upon you joining, but you must be eligible to pass SC clearance. DV clearance may be required for certain roles, so the ability/willingness to pass DV clearance is advantageous but not essential. About the role We are hiring a Head of Migrations to lead all migration work across the business. You will be the single accountable owner of our migration pipeline, created in direct response to the volume of AWS Migration Acceleration Programme (MAP) engagements now running across our client base.
The remit goes wider than MAP workload migrations. You will lead data centre exit programmes and landing zone migrations too, building a repeatable set of methodologies and delivery assets for each rather than running every engagement bespoke. This is a role that grows with the offering. You start by proving demand and defining how we deliver. Once the investment case lands, you recruit and lead the team. In time you own a standalone unit with full profit and loss accountability.
The person does not change as the offering matures. What changes is what you are accountable for. What you will do Own Cloudscaler's MAP relationship, making sure engagements are registered, funded and tracked through Assess, Mobilise and Migrate, with funding claims that are accurate, evidenced and defensible. Lead data centre exit programmes end to end, from estate discovery and dependency mapping through to decommissioning and contract exit.
Own our end-to-end migration methodology: portfolio discovery, application assessment using the 7 Rs, wave planning, execution and post-migration validation. Own the migration assessment tooling as subject-matter expert, defining what it captures, how findings map to migration patterns, and how a business case is built from the output. Support the commercial team on proposals, workshops and MAP funding conversations, and build trusted adviser relationships with client CTOs and infrastructure leads.
Deliver against a six-month revenue plan, report monthly KPIs from month one, and build the investment case for a ring fenced team. Recruit, lead and develop that team once the case is approved, working to a team gross profit model. Drive AI and automation across the migration lifecycle to cut manual effort and improve the accuracy of migration business cases. Represent Cloudscaler publicly through speaking, blogs, white papers and partnership activity with AWS.
What we are looking for Proven leadership of large-scale AWS migration programmes, with real accountability for outcomes. Working knowledge of AWS MAP, including funding, credits and the evidencing discipline the programme demands. Experience of data centre exit and landing zone migration, not just application moves. The ability to build a TCO model and a migration business case that convinces both an architect and a board.
Commercial fluency: revenue, gross profit, utilisation and pipeline are part of the job, not someone else's problem. Credibility with senior client stakeholders and a track record of building trust through delivery. Experience hiring and leading delivery teams, and setting the standard for quality. Comfort working without an established playbook. You will write it. Taking an organisation through AWS competency attainment.
Regulated sector experience: financial services, public sector, utilities, healthcare or defence. Modernisation delivery, including containerisation and server-less refactoring. P&L ownership for a practice or business unit. Productising delivery assets into reusable, versioned intellectual property. Hands-on use of AI tooling to accelerate discovery, assessment and reporting.
