Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC)
About this role
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Basic Qualifications 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

3. 6. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 7. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
8. Teamwork - Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals. 9. Technical Competence - Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS- 13 level: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12); or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Applying cybersecurity principles and security controls to protect enterprise networks, systems, and cloud environments, including identity and access management, encryption, continuous monitoring, secure configuration, and automation; Analyzing and supporting enterprise IT architectures to advance cloud modernization, automation, and digital transformation initiatives aligned with organizational objectives; Planning, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining network and cloud infrastructure; Managing connectivity requirements, monitoring performance, resolving service issues, and enforcing cybersecurity standards; Supporting FISMA assessments and audits by developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and security documentation in accordance with NIST frameworks, risk management requirements, and applicable federal security controls.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
