Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing testing, evaluation, modeling, simulation, instrumentation, software, and/or information-management systems and/or programs; and 2) Performing data acquisition, data reduction, databasing, secure access, archiving, and/or data-mining; and 3) Reviewing and/or assessing technical design documentation, studies, software development, trade-off analyses, and/or technology-insertion approaches.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level (NH-03/GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Data Management Project Management Technical Problem Solving In addition to meeting the specialized experience above, to qualify for this position, you must also meet one of the basic requirements listed below: EDUCATION REQUIREMENT for Operations Research Analyst (1515) Series: A.
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT for Computer Scientist (1550) Series: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT for Data Scientist (1560) Series: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
OR B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
