INTERDISCIPLINARY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST/ ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/ PHYSICAL SCIENTIST
About this role
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates for the 0819 series only. The Selective Placement Factor is: You must be a currently licensed/registered Professional Engineer (PE) if applying to the Environmental Engineer (0819). Your license or registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

A copy of a wall certificate that does not have an expiration date will not serve to verify this requirement. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying innovative theories to scientific principles, practices and problems not resolvable through conventional methods; 2) Applying comprehensive knowledge to serve as a recognized technical authority in applying advanced engineering and scientific concepts, principles and technologies utilized in professional engineering and/or sciences related to environmental sustainability, environmental management systems and shore environmental compliance with a focus on facilities management and operational readiness; 3) Ensuring compliance with environmental laws, regulations and DOD and DON policies and procedures including EMS, environmental compliance programs related to facilities sustainment and military readiness (such as but not limited to hazardous waste, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act), environmental pollution prevention and sustainability methods and emerging technologies; and 4) Communicating with other internal and external organizational components on Federal environmental laws and regulations; DOD and DON Environmental Readiness Program policies, practices, and procedures; and DON environmental terminology.
