IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
About this role
I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Review requirements, plans, ongoing programs, and operational challenges. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide technical information and coordinate work efforts to influence and persuade enterprise users to accept and implement findings and recommendations. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations on critical cyberspace issues. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Participate in the resolution of the systems and network interoperability and integration issues.
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector and possess professional, hands-on experience in the administration, configuration, and monitoring of enterprise-level endpoint security suites (such as ESS/HBSS) and vulnerability assessment tools (such as ACAS) within a structured Navy/DoD network environment (such as ONE-NET/NVN).
Qualified candidates must demonstrate baseline knowledge of network architecture and protocols to assist in diagnosing security anomalies, maintaining system compliance, and executing rapid responses to security incidents. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills to document technical findings, draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), and collaborate with team members to resolve network threat actions.
At the GS-13 level, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform these duties independently with minimal supervision, while candidates at the developmental GS-12 level will perform duties under closer technical guidance and supervision.
