IT Specialist (Principal IT Solutions Engineer)

MINIMUM QUALICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must show that you have the required IT-related experience for the grade level to which your are applying: GS-15, Required Competencies: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Reasoning - Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions. Teamwork - Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Technical Competence - Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. AND GS-15: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: serving as a senior engineer or technical authority responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced information technology solutions that integrate AI-enabled operations, multi-cloud computing, and zero trust security principles; AND developing new engineering approaches, standards, or methods for automated workload orchestration across multiple cloud environments; AND designing frameworks for AI-driven monitoring, analytics, and identity-centric access controls aligned with Federal cybersecurity requirements.

These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume. There is no education substitution for this grade level. If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Generally, time in Non-Pay status as a federal employee is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed above. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 09/16/2026.
