You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing laboratory tests and examinations in the areas of chemistry, microbiologic, hematologic, and blood banking; operating and maintaining laboratory instruments/ equipment; and reviewing findings against established quality control values, quality assurance procedures and/or sampling or preparing reports of findings.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: Successful completion of at least one full year of undergraduate-level education that is directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Licensure/Certification: This position requires a certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD (HA)) or their designee as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Medical Lab Technician (MLT).
