About this role

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Grade Determinations: GS-11: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: initiating, developing, and executing complex projects; using data to assess clinical or business processes; developing clinical decision-support systems; performing statistical analyses and interpreting data; improving efficiency and effectiveness of processes; consulting, advising, and educating all levels of employees.

OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related (Transcripts required). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.

GS-12: Specialized Experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Utilizing clinical software packages and applying a wide range of advance practices, theories and emerging information in health care delivery, health informatics and applications, providing expert and professional health informatics consulting services and training programs, using data to track and manage patient care, applying data life cycle to include data design, collection, and management in order to input, retrieve, analyze, summarize and present information.

Education: There is no educational substitution at this grade level. Preferred Experience: 3+ years supporting the implementation and adoption of an electronic health record (Oracle Health/Cerner/MHS Genesis Preferred) to include workflow adoption, troubleshooting and issue resolution, project management, and education. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-11 to GS-12. Physical Requirements: The work is usually sedentary, but may require extended periods of walking, standing, bending, or climbing, and employees may carry items such as books, instruments, laptops, and EHRM equipment that weighs up to 20 pounds.
