Program Analyst (Informatics)

About this role

Grade Determinations GS-5 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 4) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics.

Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; applying practices, theories, and emerging information in health care delivery, informatics, and applications; experience with automation and software systems that affect clinical practices; work in a health care environment that led to knowledge of basic terminology specific to healthcare; and/or gathering and analyzing basic facts and drawing conclusions.

OR, Education: Successfully completed 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR, Combination: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. GS-7 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 5) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics.

Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; performing highly structured work designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge; communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally, and in writing; independently planning and carrying out assignments in conformance with policies and practices related to health informatics; work in a health care environment that led to knowledge of basic terminology specific to healthcare; gathering and analyzing basic facts and drawing conclusions; inputting, retrieving, analyzing, and/or summarizing information on the data life cycle.

OR, Education: Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. OR, Combination: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. GS-9 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 7) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics.

Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; using clinical software packages; applying analytical techniques, and clinical applications development techniques to provide general informatics consulting services; developing and delivering segments of appropriate informatics educational and training programs; utilizing automation and software systems that affect clinical practice; identifying functionality issues and proposing solutions related to healthcare delivery processes; inputting, retrieving, analyzing, and/or summarizing information on the data life cycle.

OR, Education: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR, Combination: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. GS-11 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 9) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics.

Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; determining appropriate principles, practices, and methods to apply in all phases of assignments related to health informatics; interpreting regulations and applying methods to resolve complex, controversial, or unprecedented issues and problems related to health informatics; using clinical software packages and troubleshooting; making presentations and preparing policies, procedures, memoranda, and training materials related to health informatics; providing professional health informatics consulting services.

OR, Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR, Combination: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. GS-12 Program Analyst (Informatics): Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS 11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Program Analyst - Informatics.

Qualifying specialized experience includes, but is not limited to; using clinical software packages; providing professional health informatics consulting services to develop and deliver health informatics education and training programs; proposing and supporting major administrative and clinical policies and directives; troubleshooting functionality issues and developing solutions with automation and software systems; completing data design collection and management to input, retrieve, analyze, summarize, and present information effectively; leading management information projects; making presentations and preparing policies, procedures, memoranda, and training materials; examining highly complex systems and problems and taking action to resolve them; leading multidisciplinary teams; performing detailed analysis of technical information in critical areas.
