Applicants applying for the GS 14 must meet the following requirements: Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive national educational and public information initiatives and programs to stimulate interest in preventing the use of narcotics and other dangerous drugs; 2) Conducting presentations and directing special events and other activities; 3) Designing and conducting a variety of strategic planning for and management of nationwide community outreach strategies and initiatives with partners at the federal, tribal, national, state, and local levels; 4) Developing and editing written and visual materials conveying information to a variety of audiences, including youth, concerning complex drug education programs and current drug trends; and 5) Directing the capture, analysis, and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data relating to the organization's operations and directing or personally performing special studies or projects; and 6) Preparing and contributing to reports and other presentations on program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
