Assisting the Purchaser Planner with planning, forecasting and inventory management for the assigned Business Unit, as well as scheduling and scheduling workload. Responsibilities of the Purchaser Planner I planning also included assisting in the purchase of inventory items and expediting purchase orders.

While this role is located primarily in Newton, NJ, it may require travel to other Thorlabs locations. Essential Job Functions include the following , but are not limited to: Planning: Purchasing (Daily purchasing, expediting, date and data management) Planning (Daily printing, scheduling/ re-scheduling/ date management) Product Availability and Lead Time calculation Initiates and participates in purchasing improvement and cost reduction programs Generate special and periodic reports as required or directed Inventory Control and Inventory Planning (Safety Stock, forecast, build/order size) In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Physical Activities: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. Requirements Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar and progressive position preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience Specialized Knowledge and Skills: ERP System, Proficient in MS Office Ability to work independently and with little instruction Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to create documents and such as part of process improvement Experience in setting up bill of materials and manufacturing routes Salary range for this position is USD 57,000 -USD 71,000 depending on experience Thorlabs values its diverse environment and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
