To view the complete OPM qualification standard for the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Safety and Occupational Health Management Series 0018, please refer to: Safety and Occupational Health Management Series 0018 (opm.gov) Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

To qualify for this position at the FV-H level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS 10/11. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized Experience is: Experience managing and administering workplace safety or occupational health programs (OSH) within an aviation operational environment, which includes developing or recommending safety and occupational health policy or designing or modifying processes or other systems to control or eliminate hazards.

Experience applying occupational safety and health standards (OSH) to do any of the following: identify hazards, perform safety risk assessments, and develop Job Safety Analyses (JSA), or Safety Hazard Analysis (SHA), or prepare hazard abatement plans. Experience as a primary advisor or Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) matters and committees, such as a Compliance Committees or OSHECCOMs.
