Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the development, review, or coordination of security policies related to Special Access Programs (SAPs), applying SAP security policies to answer questions or resolve procedural issues, and reviewing security curriculum or training materials for compliance with established SAP security policy.

This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Specialized Experience GS-14: One year specialized experience which includes leading the development, review, and implementation of security policies that affect Special Access Program (SAP) enterprise, serving as a subject matter expert for the interpretation of complex security policies and regulations, and representing an organization to draft, review, and coordinate SAP security policy.

This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12/13).
