Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. A fundamental understanding of project management principles to oversee IT projects from conception to completion. A solid technical foundation in IT principles, with the ability to oversee a variety of IT functions and adapt to new technologies. Ability to contribute to and execute strategic IT plans that support the organization’s goals and adapt to changing business needs.
Commitment to staying informed about the latest IT trends and best practices, with a willingness to pursue relevant professional development opportunities. Desired Skills Demonstrated successful Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise platform implementations, including third-party software.
Expert-level skills in managing multiple concurrent IT projects (upgrades, deployments, migrations), defining scope, managing timelines, and allocating resources effectively. Recent and successful leadership of an enterprise technical solution. Focus on IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices (e.g., ITIL) for change management, incident resolution, and maintaining high availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
Strong analytical aptitude to quickly learn new technologies and apply creative, robust solutions to complex system challenges. Working Conditions Sedentary. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during a lapse in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption.
In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. The U.S. Senate network cannot be taken offline for maintenance during the workday or while the Senate is in session. As such, maintenance windows may only occur at night, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays. Employees who perform systems upgrades, maintenance, wiring, backups, or support at our alternate data centers will have schedules that include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
To meet the needs of the U.S. Senate, the person in this position will be required to work extended hours outside normal business hours, including but not limited to holidays and weekends, as necessary. To meet the needs of the U.S. Senate, the person in this position will be required to be on call or report on-site on a rotation within 24 hours. Security Clearance This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a Secret U.S.
Government security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.
