Senior Software Engineer
About this role
ABOUT THE ROLE This is a high-ownership engineering role at a seed-stage ECAD SaaS startup building collaborative, AI-assisted design tooling for hardware engineers in complex industries such as aerospace and defense. As a senior engineer on a small, fast-moving team, you will own core systems across the stack — from cloud infrastructure and AI copilot features to real-time collaboration and physics-based simulation. You will help set the technical direction of the product as it scales.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Architect application infrastructure spanning the cloud ecosystem, AI copilot, and physics simulation backend. - Lead development of major features end to end — from architecture and implementation through deployment and sustainment. - Collaborate closely with the product team to identify and deliver the capabilities customers need most. - Define and uphold technical standards and long-term system architecture as the product and team grow.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required - 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of production systems or large-scale features. - Deep expertise in at least one layer of the stack — frontend frameworks, real-time collaboration, or AI/ML systems. - Proficiency with modern tools including React, TypeScript, and Python. - Strong product intuition and a track record of effective cross-functional collaboration in fast-paced environments.
- Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation systems. - Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Nice to Have - Background in hardware engineering tooling, CAD/ECAD platforms, or aerospace and defense software. - Experience building security-compliant SaaS products (e.g., GovCloud, ITAR, CUI environments). - Familiarity with real-time collaborative editing architectures (e.g., CRDTs, OT).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Salary: $120,000 – $170,000 USD annually, depending on experience. - Equity participation in a seed-stage company with significant growth potential. - Small team environment with high autonomy and direct impact on product direction. LOCATION This role is on-site in New York, NY. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered.
