Student Trainee (Administration and Analysis)
About this role
To qualify for Student Trainee (Administration and Analysis) at the GS-05 grade level, applicants must possess the following experience and/or education: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level, in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience: Providing administrative support to others, such as: proofreading correspondence for format and grammar, tracking action items, reviewing forms for completeness, and responding to telephone inquiries.
Using Microsoft Outlook to compose and send emails, create, and manage appointments for self and others. Using Microsoft PowerPoint to create and edit presentations, creating slides by adding bullets and text, placing graphics, inserting charts, reordering slides, etc. Using Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets and possess the ability to imbed basic mathematical formulas and functions in order to calculate, sort, manipulate and reformat data.
Conducting research over the internet to obtain information. -OR- Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Post Secondary Students are TERM appointments NTE 4 years in the competitive service. Upon successful completion of all program requirements and at the agency's discretion, the student may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a career/career-conditional appointment.
