Supervisory IT Specialist
About this role
Basic Requirement: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four (4) competencies listed below. The experience must be IT related and may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification) as appropriate. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
To meet this requirement you must demonstrate proficiency in each of the four competencies listed above as follows: GS-15: Expert - You are known as an expert in this area. You can provide guidance, troubleshoot and answer questions related to this area of expertise and the IT field where each of the competencies are used. Focus is strategic; You have demonstrated consistent excellence in applying these competencies across multiple projects and/or organizations; You are considered the "go to" person in this area within your company and/or outside entities; You create new applications for and/or lead the development of reference and resource materials for these competencies; You are able to diagram or explain the relevant process elements and issues in relation to organizational issues and trends in sufficient detail during discussions and presentations, to foster a greater understanding among internal and external colleagues and constituents.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) establishing IT strategies, objectives, and performance standards in alignment with Agency financial targets and strategic direction.; 2) developing plans and strategies to modify the IT infrastructure to support short and long range agency goals; 3) advising on and recommending changes to business operations and support processes, procedures, and systems as needed to improve current and new configurations; 4) planning and communicating workload priorities to establish short and long term organizational goals.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
