About this role
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/10/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience-GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: experience in Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist where you applied your knowledge and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database packages, knowledge of all hospital administrative principles, theories and practices is required, knowledge, flexibility, and experience to interface with individuals at all levels of the hospital, including clinical and administrative services, knowledge of management techniques to identify, consider, and resolve issues or problems, knowledge of management evaluative techniques (qualitative and quantitative) in order to conduct complex analyses of the patient enrollment and information operations and to ensure efficiencies of economy while focusing on accuracy and consistency, OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.
To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have: a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree., OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. combination of successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education ) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total requirements for this grade level.
Specialized Experience-GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience in the position with knowledge and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database packages, knowledge of all hospital administrative principles, theories and practices is required, knowledge, flexibility, and experience to interface with individuals at all levels of the hospital, including clinical and administrative services, knowledge of management techniques to identify, consider, and resolve issues or problems, knowledge of management evaluative techniques (qualitative and quantitative) in order to conduct complex analyses of the patient enrollment and information operations and to ensure efficiencies of economy while focusing on accuracy and consistency, knowledge of operating guidelines governing administrative programs to help initiate program changes, skilled in performed independently and requires a high level of self-direction, skilled and knowledge of assigning work to subordinates based on priorities by developing special projects and reports which encompass areas related to identifying potential and/or immediate cost savings for the organization, OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.
To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist . OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate education (above a master's degree) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total requirements for this grade level. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study.
Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (Transcripts must be submitted at time of application).
