About this role

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. Individual Occupational Requirement: Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled (for positions above GS-5). To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include: Experience performing first-level supervisory responsibilities, which include planning work, setting and adjusting priorities, evaluating performance, resolving a wide range of conflicts and complaints, recommending disciplinary actions, among other supervisory duties relating to employee performance; AND Experience supervising, mentoring, and providing oversight to others on full-spectrum transportation-related grants management projects; AND Experience supervising, mentoring, and providing oversight to others on full-spectrum transportation-related financial management programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Supervision: Sets well-defined and realistic goals for subordinates; displays a high level of commitment towards cultivating a cohesive and effective team; motivates others to achieve maximum results and accomplish set goals. Grants Management Project Oversight: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Financial Management Program Oversight: Understands the organization's financial processes. Prepares, justifies, and administers the program budget. Oversees procurement and contracting to achieve desired results. Monitors expenditures and uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities. For all types of consideration, experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
