Minimum Qualifications for GS-04: You must qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: General Experience: You must have one (1) year of general experience with duties related to the position. General experience is clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position such as but not limited to: customer service, receptionist duties, receiving and directing a variety of inquiries, and providing immediate communications throughout the medical center.

OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of education above high school. (Transcripts required) OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an equivalent combination of experience and education beyond the first year above high school. Physical Requirements: You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination. The work is usually sedentary but may involve some standing and walking to consult directories and manuals. Work involves making sound judgements when interacting with Veterans, families, professional staff, co-workers, outside agencies, etc., which at times may be distraught or abusive; and when operating the telephone system and multiple alarm systems that need to be addressed immediately and in an accurate and reliable method.

Work Environment: The work is normally performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled room. Normal safety precautions are required.
