About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a hands-on finance role sitting within the Finance team of a fast-growing EdTech startup, working directly alongside senior leadership. You'll contribute across financial close, reporting, planning, and process automation — gaining real ownership and a front-row seat to building a modern finance function from the ground up. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and coordinate with external auditors.

- Contribute to accurate financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions. - Assist with operational controlling, including budget planning, forecasting, and liquidity tracking. - Build monthly reports, conduct ad hoc analyses, and translate data into clear, decision-ready insights. - Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual workflows using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations. - Prepare decision briefs and support cross-functional initiatives, keeping projects on track.

- Coordinate with tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers, and collaborate with teams such as Growth and Engineering. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree programme in business, finance, economics, or a related field. - Professional working proficiency in both German and English, written and spoken. - Foundational knowledge of accounting principles sufficient to support financial close and reporting.

- Strong Excel skills and experience analysing financial data to generate reports and inform decisions. - Experience supporting close processes (month-end, quarter-end, or year-end), audit coordination, or multi-jurisdiction reporting. - Experience with financial planning tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, or liquidity tracking. - Genuine interest in AI tools and automation; hands-on experience with low-code platforms or BI tools is a bonus.

- Familiarity with German accounting standards (HGB) or IFRS is a plus. - Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or consulting is advantageous. - Proactive, self-driven, and pragmatic — comfortable taking ownership and working closely with leadership. LOCATION On-site in Berlin, Germany. Visa sponsorship is not available.
